The atmosphere is really cool and the people are nice. If you aren't going there to eat I wouldn't show up until about 11:30pm.

About Lakewood

Lakewood California is located in Long Beach California, which is a well-known suburb of Los Angeles, California. Lakewood has a population of around 90, 000. It was incorporated in 1954. Lakewood is known as "an instant city" because in 1950 it was mostly lima bean fields, and by 1960, Lakewood was a modern, interesting city. It has a very diverse population, which also makes it very interesting. Lakewood is close to Anaheim and Los Angeles, and nearby entertainment include Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags and Universal Studios. Some sports teams that are very close are the LA Angels baseball team, the LA Dodgers baseball team and the LA Lakers basketball team. Some interesting events in Lakewood every year are a festive Fourth of July ceremony and event, the Lakewood civic center block party and Fireworks Spectacular. This event attracts many thousands of people. They also have the popular Pan American Festival held at the Mayfair Park every May. This festival was started in 1945 Lakewood has the reputation of being the first "contract city". Even though it is incorporated, it contracts out it municipal services. Most of these services are provided by Los Angeles County and some private agencies. Now many cities do this because Lakewood found that it works well. Lakewood California can claim the very first Denny's restaurant and in 2005 Lakewood was voted Sports Illustrated "Sportstown USA" for California. So Lakewood is definitely an interesting place.
